When I started development on Predatory Moon, one of the first things I decided was that I wasn’t going to start casting it until it was financed at least through the production stage. I just don’t think it’s fair to keep actors “on hold” for a time period when I’m not completely certain about the schedule.
However, there were some people that I couldn’t have kept away from this project even if I’d erected a ten-foot wall of barbed wire around it. Kathleen O’Brien is one of those people.
I first met Kathleen when she worked on a comedy film that my husband directed a couple years ago. She was just getting into film-acting and had this amazing sense of humor. She also seemed to really have fun with the role she was given and was one of those people you could just tell was “hooked on the biz”. We stayed in touch after that project, so I watched her advance in her acting career and she learned what I normally do in the world of film.
Kathleen has been waiting for the opportunity to get on a horror set with me for years. She’s been in a few productions around Florida (Most recently, The Hunter’s Moon webseries) and she always has that wonderful enthusiasm about everything she does.
Add to that the fact that she is a great actress who puts 110% into every role she takes and it’s not hard to see why I would make her a rare exception to my no-casting-before-financing rule.
So I am very pleased to introduce the lovely Kathleen O’Brien as the actress who will be playing the role of “Karla” in Predatory Moon.
