Spotlight: Mel Heflin

I’ve mentioned before that I made it a rule not to cast for Predatory Moon until financing is in place, but there were a couple of exceptions…

The one female role that I thought I’d have the hardest time filling was the one that required a wide acting range, nudity, and heavy FX makeup. I can’t tell you how excited I was when Mel Heflin came onboard this project!

I met Mel on the set of a project called Moonie vs The Spider Queen, and there were three things about her that just really grabbed my attention. First of all, she’s gorgeous and has a very friendly disposition that makes her great to work with. Secondly, she’s extremely professional and has a realistic understanding about working in small independent films. And the icing on the cake was that even after her scene had wrapped, she stayed around for the rest of the day to get to know the crew and even lent a hand with the production.

That third point was the most important to me. I’ve been on a few productions where there was a very solid dividing line between cast and crew, and I never thought that was beneficial. So I was thrilled to meet this beautiful actress who went above and beyond to help with the projects she’s involved in.

Oh, and did I mention that she’s a huge horror fan who really wants to be in a werewolf movie?

Mel has been in several films, including The Trip, Dead Woman’s Hollow, Left 4 Dead, and The Pit. Her modeling work is incredibly diverse, everything from glamor to straight-out zombie horror. You can read all about her on her website at http://melheflin.weebly.com

I am really looking forward to working with Mel on Predatory Moon and I believe that she will really bring a lot to the character of “Shari”.
